A GLOBAL AUDIOVISUAL ODYSSEY PREMIERES AT DUBLIN'S GALLERYX
Multidisciplinary artist TJ Norris and Carpe Sonum Records announce the Irish premiere film screening of Elemental Studies, an ambitious audiovisual project exploring climate and nature. This three-year collaboration of experimental film and sound will screen at GalleryX on Saturday, September 6th.
The film, as presented here, is just about hour (runtime). In future presentations Elemental Studies will become a 4-channel film/sound installation featuring all twelve black-and-white shorts, each paired with original compositions from various international electronic sound artists including: Illusion of Safety, PBK, Dublin's own Mick Chillage, Schneider TM, Das Synthetische Mischgewebe, Andrew Lagowski, Massimo Toniutti, Jos Smolders, Porya Hatami, Darren McClure, Sigtryggur Berg Sigmarsson, Vitor Joaquim, and Simon Šerc. The work meditates on the fragile balance between humanity and the Earth’s four elements, capturing their dual nature as both nurturing and destructive.
"This is the time in our history that we must speak for the ailing Earth," says Norris. "Climate Change vs. Mother Nature has become uncomfortably imbalanced with a variety of stress and strain, especially in the wake of a world pandemic. The elements, themselves, each court their own symbolism: air/wind (expansion/movement), earth (stability), fire (energy/rebirth), water (adaptation/fluidity)."
The premiere screening runs concurrently with Babs Santini’s (Steven Stapleton of Nurse With Wound) “The Formless Irregular,” a retrospective and book launch. The double album soundtrack is available now through Carpe Sonum Records.
